Getting Ready for Game #5 - Hosting an Oilers Watch Party

Let’s Party!

Are you getting ready for a last minute Oilers watch party? We have put together some quick ideas to help you create a fun atmosphere as you cheer on the Oilers #GoOilersGo.

Where to Watch

There are a few considerations to keep in mind on game night like where to watch the game and seating. Basements, living rooms and even the backyard (with a projector and a screen) are great places for people to gather. If you are hosting a crowd ensure you have lots of comfortable seating and extra seats for everyone. You may even want to consider having multiple viewing areas so everyone can be close to the action. If many of your guests have kids consider a kids area just for them with games and a snack station.

What to Eat

If you want to go all in on your Oilers theme consider hockey/ Oilers food, Oilers colored cups and napkins, or even snacks in team colors. No need to host a sit down meal, have a variety of finger foods and small bites for your guests. Feeling really creative? Invent an Oilers themed signature cocktail or mocktail - you can’t go wrong with Orange and Blue.

The Vibe

To get everyone pumped for the game add fun elements to set the stage - no need for all new decor to get in the spirit! Hit up your favorite party decor store for team colored or hockey themed items. Have a themed dress code and encourage guests to wear team colors and jerseys. Grab a few throw pillows and blankets in the blue and orange - these can be great for extra seating on the floor if you have a fuller house than expected. Want to go all out? Decorate your front porch or lawn to show your Oilers pride - your guests will know they are at the right place. Don’t forget the pre-game music to get the party started!
